30 Something Style

Last week, when we went camping out in Big Bear, the mommies had a chance to steal away for some much needed “ME” time.  And while we were walking in downtown Big Bear, window shopping, we got to talking about how 30 something women should dress.  My friends were caught in an in between…They want to dress trendy and polished, but they don’t want to look like they’re trying to be 20 again.  They’re mothers, like myself, but they don’t want to feel like they have to wear grandma like clothing.

And it got me thinking about my Fall wardrobe, so I put together this mod inspired Fall outfit.  Perfect for any 30 something woman who likes vintage inspired pieces, and loves a lil’ flair on her feet.

1.  The Aqua sundial necklace is a great piece you can wear with many outfits.  Alone or layered, this piece can also cross seasons between summer and fall.

2.  What’s great about this Donna Morgan dress, is that it’s short, but not too short.  And the all over pattern on the dress is large, but not overbearing.

The drop waist is also the perfect silhouette for women with short torsos such as myself.  It elongates the body, making you appear taller in stature.

3.  The Petra Heels are a great take on a boot.  It’s got the qualities of your favorite fall bootie, but the ankle straps lend itself to a lady like heel.  Pair them with skinny jeans, or any fall skirt.  Casual or dressed up a bit, these heels have lots of potential.

4.  I found this sweater cardigan at Forever 21 last week, and the minute I laid eyes on it, I knew I couldn’t leave without it.  It’s got that soft, warm, slouchy, Fall feel to it.  And easily pairs with jeans, a shift dress, or a great patterned skirt.  Very universal.

5.  I have 2 Marc by Marc Jacobs bags, and I absolutely love love love them!  I heart this brand!  So it’s no surprise that I picked the Marc by Marc Jacobs “Flipping Out” bag in Black.  The 2 big qualities I have when looking for a bag, are

{ONE} is it roomy enough to fit wipes?

and

TWO} does it have a crossbody strap?

I carry a lot of things, with or without my girls in tow.  And it’s nice to have the option to be able to have my hands free when the occasion arises.

What do you think of this Fall ensemble?

  1. Ahh, I have this problem too! Out here in Boston, it’s easy to go over-the-top preppy and I try to avoid it with all my might.

Also, I’m so in love with that cardigan — the perfect thing to go with basically everything this autumn. It’s still warm here, too, and I’m itching for cooler temps so I can break out my sweaters!
