Your Trash, My Treasure

During my birthday weekend, I found time to do one of my favorite pasttimes…

thrift store shopping

We were celebrating my sister’s birthday along with mine, and I knew I’d find her a gift at a thrift store.  She is a vintage junkie, just as much as me.

And of course, I found more than what I was looking for.

Velvet lined jewelry box for my sister

Serving tray & a cute lil’ kitchen grill

Vintage buttons

Lamp base with a beautiful motif

Vintage patterns

Vogue’s book of etiquette

Antique brass stool with blue velvet cushion

Nabisco tin

Most of the time, I don’t find anything good.  But this time around I was lucky!  Do you like to go thrift shopping too?  Find anything good?

  1. Ahhh Louise, that brass stool is to die for! I love that you found so many treasures on your birthday weekend. Now, as for that book of etiquette — any good tips for us? :) xo

    • I know! The stool was in the front of the store, staring me in the face when I walked in. I was surprised no one had picked it up yet! haha, that book of etiquette! I haven’t had time to really look through the whole thing (and I don’t think I’ll ever read everything, haha) but there was something in there about “cutting back.” Basically, if a man asks to cut in on a dance between a man & woman, the man who was asked to leave, cannot “cut back” in. Lots of silly stuff like that. Another one I saw was that women weren’t allowed to smoke while walking down the street or while waiting on the street. So funny! I’m gonna sift through this book more, and tell u gals what I find. The book was only $1.50!! I knew it would be the perfect coffee table book! XO

    • Thx Steph! It is isn’t it! And so organized too, my sister loved it. I found all these items from 4 different stores. I browsed a lot! One of my have things to do =) And yes, those heart buttons are lovely! XO

    • Thx Maria! That tray was only $2!! Can you believe it?! I wish my husband would go with me…he’s not that into antiques =( I think antiques are beautiful, he thinks they’re junk! boo! What an amazing thing to do on a honeymoon! Where’d u guys go? XO
