Progress

The costumes are coming along great!  I didn’t post any updates last weekend, cuz I was sooo tired!  I felt like a brick wall hit me last Saturday, and I could not get out of bed!  So much for trying to do and be everything right?!

But I def made up for it this week…

I was able to sew and attach both bodice linings for the mermaid & the bride.

I also attached the peplum, the exposed tulle and the self skirt, to the bride costume…

Here’s a shot of the back and the inside of the bride

That little ruffle you see, sewn at the waist, is the top of the skirt lining.  I’ll be adding more tulle underneath the self skirt, to add more dreamy volume!

Everything is a bit raw right now, so there are raw edges everywhere.  But that will disappear soon!

For the mermaid, I’m playing around with these pieces…

I was thinking about doing ruffles for the scales, but decided against it.  I’m thinking of cutting out these panels and maybe painting each panel a diff color to create an ombre effect?  It’s something I’ve got to play around with, but I’m excited about it!

I added trim to the bodice, but I need more fabric for the mermaid skirt.  But here is what the skirt looks like with the scale panels pinned to the bodice…

Can you see the direction I’m taking this?  It’s gonna look so beautiful!

Here’s an inside look at the mermaid bodice…

I’ve tried both costumes on the girls, and so far, they fit!  There’s only one alteration I need to make on the bodice for the mermaid, but otherwise, everything is perfect!!

I’m so excited!  And the girls are too!  They keep asking me if their costumes are done!  Such demanding clients! hehe!

After the skirts are done, I’ve got the zippers to put in, and then the best part…. Embelishing!!

The hubbs has his big Halloween party at work on Thursday, so these are gonna be done soon.

Big reveal next week!  You want to see it!!
