One of the most important things that I’ve wanted to do since I got laid off last year, was to NOT stop designing and creating clothes. Whether it was for my children or for myself (I don’t do men’s clothing tho…the hubbs got the short end of the stick here!)
I wanted to hone in on my design aesthetic and perfect my sewing skills.
But since I started the blog, and since being at home…it’s been a lil’ difficult to find time to sketch, let alone sew.
And contrary to popular belief, my mother included (Hi, Mom!) it takes more than a DAY to make a dress!…sigh
So, in Louise fashion…I’ve decided to add a lil’ more to my plate.
BUT!! You and I will be very pleased with this newly added bloggy blog series…
On Saturdays, I’ll post a new/continuing sewing project I’m working on at that moment. I’m not gonna rush myself to have a new sewing project every week…that would make me cray cray! But I will keep you all posted on the progress of any current projects…from sketch & concept to the finished product! Stress included, hehe!
Making It Work…Project Runway style!
And this couldn’t have come at a better time, because I’ve just started working on the girls’ Halloween costumes.
A week ago, I was finally able to sit down and sketch the girls’ costumes. Annalise wants to be a blushing bride, and Mia wants to be Ariel from “The Little Mermaid.”
I did post a pencil sketch on Instagram a wk ago, but a couple days ago I figured out the color schemes for each…
And yesterday, I finished the bodice patterns for each costume.
Mia (Mermaid)
Annalise (Bride)
Simple enough right?! haha! There aren’t too many pattern pieces, but there’s different layers to the costumes, so even though you see like 3-4 pattern pieces, there’s much more sewing involved than meets the eye…the lining, the main fabric (self) and any added decorative layers (contrast A).
Can’t wait to show you the progress!
I’m planning not to take too long with their costumes this year. Last year…and I’ll admit it..the previous years, I procrastinated a bit and lost 2 days of sleep putting the finishing touches…NEVER AGAIN!!
Hope you guys like this series! Have an awesome weekend!

I’m looking forward to this series! I have used a sewing machine a total of once in my life, so I’m kind of in awe of what people can create with one, haha.
