My friend Michele gave this wine carrier to me a while back.
It’s made entirely of wood and has 2 separators and a lid to store 3 wine bottles in.
She gave it to me, and told me to use it for something…to repurpose it.
It took me a while to figure out what the heck to do with it…until recently when that light bulb went off in my head.
This is where I’ve been keeping all my thread, in my sewing area.
It’s a nice lil’ doo dad, but I knew I could organize my thread more creatively
A doll house!!
A lil’ tiny house, all my own…cuz’ really, we’re never too old to have one!!
After painting the whole box white, I asked my dad to cut the lid into 2 equal sections, and then took hammer to nail
and made the roof
Then I found some moulding, cut it to size and painted it white (this is how I’d attach the roof to the “house”) Scrabble anyone?!
Doesn’t the moulding look like the scrabble tile holders?
I nailed the moulding to the top of the house first.
Then nailed the roof in place, to the moulding.
The hammering part was easy….well, sometimes =/
I wanted the wall of the house to have some color, so I glued some scrapbook paper to the inside & placed the separators (or shelves) back in.
And then I got to gluing. I have a TON of buttons…a crazy amount of buttons!! So I used them on the roof to mimic shingles.
Voila!
My very own dollhouse =) The girls keep asking if they can play with it….I keep telling them no! hehe
I’m in the process of setting up the area around my work table, in the sewing area, so this will find its home either on the table or on the wall.
Enjoy the previous workspace posts, I’ll be posting a lot of updates next week:

I love your craftiness, Louise! The button-shingles are just perfect. Do you think you’ll mount it or leave it free standing?
