For this month’s DIY Date, my lovely friend Paige insisted we incorporate some good ol’ fashioned goodness and help out a great charity
The St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital was at the top of her list, and we decided that for this month’s DIY Date, we’d make craft kits for the children of St. Jude.
Here’s what my great bloggy blog friends and I came up with:
Monica { Q-tip Painting }
MJ { Glitter Paper Beads }
Lisha { Painted Magnets }
Joy { Ribbon Washer Bracelet }
Stephanie { Button Caterpillars }
and Moi { Cupcake Friends }
Steps after the jump, if you’d like to make your own cupcake friend…
Supplies.
{ 1 cupcake liner, 1 popsicle stick, 3 pieces of double stick tape – you can use glue, circle cutout for the head, yarn for hair & stickable rhinestone jewels }
Steps.
And since we’re sending these as craft kits, I created some cute packaging for the kids at St. Jude.
Each bag contains one friend already pre-made, and enough supplies to create 2 more cupcake friends. There are directions on the back as well.
I had a great time putting these kits together. And my girls even got in on the action to help me out. They did get carried away with the lil’ rhinestone jewels though! hehe
It was also a great lesson in generosity for my girls.
Thanks Paige, for this wonderful idea!
Here is our Pinterest Page that MJ created especially for this DIY Date if you wanna check it out.
And check out the Laid Off Mom Facebook Fan Page also, for this and all our other DIY Dates.
Have a great Friday Folks!

Oh my gosh!!! I love them all. I think I need to make a washer ribbon bracelet, Joy. And those button caterpillars, Stephanie!! I love creative friends. So glad we did this. XO, MJ

Great projects! Those cupcake friends are adorable, and the packaging is so nicely done! I like how you included a premade friend… so thoughtful!
Thx Steph! Your caterpillars were soo cute too!! I bet the girls loved making them. I might have to do that craft with my girls, I have lots of extra buttons lying around. XO
