DIY Date #2 – Beads

For August’s DIY Date, we had to play with beads.

And boy, did we!!!

Brynn | MJ | Lisha | Stephanie | Paige | Maria | Erin | May

This DIY date was open to anything having to do with beads.  I told all the ladies that they didn’t have to make jewelry…they could make anything, and EVERYTHING!   Most of us, including myself made jewelry, haha!  Maria was the only brave one, and decorated some beautiful hurricane vases!

And if you remember, the twist to this DIY date was that we had to give these handmade goodies to someone.   So check out all these ladies’ lovely blogs to see who they decided to give their DIY’s to.

Miss Brynn took it a step further, and decided to do a giveaway for the braided bracelet she made, so definitely check out her blog for more details…

It’s amazing how generous all of them are…maybe that’s why I heart them all so much.

For my DIY project.  I made a necklace.

But instead of stringing the beads along a chain, I strung them on a metal wire so that they hung straight across.  A slightly different silhouette.  I chose ceramic beads that have the look of wood.  Something that could go with a lot of pieces, and can transition between seasons.

And I decided to give my necklace to my friend Anum.  I’ve been holding onto a lil’ package for her for months!  Eek!! I know!  So this lil’ beauty will find it’s way into the box and into Anum’s hands.  Hope you like it my friend!

I had lots of fun playing with these beads….so much so, that I want to make more jewelry. I got a lil’ too bead happy at the store and ended up buy a lot more than I was supposed…eep!

I think I’ll do another DIY Date where we use beads, but the catch would be that we can’t make jewelry!  hmmm, that would be interesting…what do you think?

Be sure to check out next month’s DIY Date, I’ll be handing it over to Paige for September!  You won’t want to miss that one!
