Craft Night

Last night we held craft nite at Chanelle’s house.

A handful of my girlfriends and I, try to get together every month (every week, if we’re on a roll!) to craft together and just hang out.  Remember this craft nite?  Usually we all just bring our own crafts to work on, but last night we worked on our nails together.  Not everyone could make it last night =( It was just Chanelle, Michele and myself.  Look at all the nail polish Michele brought….

she also brought her nail Red Angel Stamping plates

I brought these of course

and Chanelle had quite a spread!  I forgot to take pics, but she had pita bread, hummus, homemade salsa & chips, farmer’s market 3 layer dip, pasta, a lil’ “make your own” pizza station for the kids and wine….yea, if Chanelle has a party…you WANT to go!

I always try to make all craft nites, cuz it gives me a chance to do 2 of my favorite things: hang out with my girlfriends (which I rarely get a chance to do) & craft.  And the best part, all our hubbies & kids know each other, so it’s a whole family affair.

This is the OPI color that I used {Tickle My France-Y}

and to add a lil’ something special to my nails, I added a few strips of washi tape

{washi tape is a decorative Japanese masking tape that is used mainly for arts and crafts}

I cut the tape into tiny strips

then placed them on my nails, trimmed them

then filed them down gently at the tips and added a layer of top coat.

Michele also used the the washi tape to create this geometric shape

she used these colors {OPI – Meet Me On The Star Ferry & Sally Hansen Smooth Perfect – Whisper}

then here comes the best part…

Michele used her Red Angel Stamping kit to add a cute motif to her nails

she picked this geometric motif

added nail polish to the motif

swiped the top clean so that the nail polish gets pushed into the crevices of the motif

then used her Konad nail stamper to grab the nail polish from the motif

and stamped her nail with the stamper

Check out this video to get a more accurate tutorial.

Pretty awesome huh?!

Chanelle went the glitter route, these are the colors she picked {OPI – Nomad’s Dream, a dark glitter by LA Colors & Essie – A Cut Above}

She wanted a kind of ombre detail to her nails

So she added the OPI polish first, then layered the Essie glitter {if you add the Essie just to the tips, the glitter will look like champagne bubbles}

then Michele helped Chanelle add the darker glitter to just the tips

beautiful!

here’s a pic of all of our nails together

What do you guys do at your craft nites?

  1. It’s amazing the kinds of things you can do with your nails these days. You guys came up with some really cool nail creations :)

    We haven’t had a craft night for awhile (which is kinda good because I’ve been super busy this past month!) maybe next month things will ease up a bit and I’ll have a craft night with my gal pals :)

  2. This is so fun. I love all your pretty, fun, nails! Using washi tape for a mani is such a great idea. My friends and I get together on Monday nights to watch the Bachelor(ette) and sometimes paint our nails, too, but never anything that fancy… perhaps we should step it up this week?!?
